Question

1.

To adjust AFT on a Signa LX system you can use your field laptop and a null modem serial cable to communicate with the RF amp.

2.

The LX system you are working on has an RF/Pen II cabinet with an SSM module. MONS.EXE is the diagnostic used to troubleshoot the Power Monitors. CPD.EXE is the program to change or adjust Multi-coil and T/R circuits.

3.

RFT allows the FE to test the linearity, fidelity and stability of the RF subsystem.

4.

You are troubleshooting a Body SNR problem. Swapping the head and body preamp does not result in better Body SNR your next step would be to replace the IPG board.

5.

During a PM you discover Erbtec 85 Power Monitor faults in the error log. This fault is most likely related to a PA tube which is going bad.

6.

Erbtec 78 faults (High IPA Grid Current) on an Erbtec amplifier may be caused by a faulty Power Control board in the amplifier.

7.

An Erbtec 85 fault during a body scan indicates that the externally controlled +12 volt safety relay is not powered. This is most likely a 6Kv power supply failure.

8.

An Erbtec 81 fault, IPA Tube or 3Kv arc, can often be corrected by properly cleaning of the Vacuum Tube Amplifier Cavities (VTAC).

9.

The RFT TPS Loopback Baseline Data test is used when troubleshooting system stability problems.

10.

On a 1.5T system, at the output of a 30 dB RF attenuator (dummy load) connected to the Body Output of the Directional coupler, you would expect a 36v Peak waveform reading on an oscilloscope with a TG of 200.

11. The Head TR switch on an LX system receives it’s TR bias from the head receive cable.
12. The 15v preamp bias which originates at the TNF can be measured at J2 of the systems cabinet (body receive).
