Question

1.

The customer is complaining of an intermittent appearance of spike noise in a body images. The problem is most likely to be the IPG board.

2.

The Scalable Gradient Driver (SGD) gradient is also referred to as the Hi Slew gradient. This new gradient subsystem contains 3 minigrams, a Gradient Power Module (GPM), a Gradient Power Supply (GPS) and a Gradient Interface Processor (GIP). It is designed for the LX Signa system type only.

3.

You are getting occasional Overloads on the Z axis of a Signa system with an 8645/GRAM type Gradient subsystem. There appears to be no Image Quality impact. The first thing to do is replace the IPG board.

4.

The 8651 Gradient amplifier is also known as an SGD.

5.

The Base Gradient has a slew rate of 60milliseconds, and because of this it will produce high quality EPI images.

6.

The 8607 gradient amplifier is found on Signa Advantage systems. In fact there are always 6 of them, a Master and Slave pair for each axis.

7.

There are 4 main types of gradients found on Signa systems:
  1. 8607- Signa Advantage.
  2. 8645- Signa Horizon and 8X
  3. 8651- SGD Signa LX
  4. Base- Signa LX

8.

The SGD type gradient can be used on 1.5T and 1.0T LX Signa Systems Only.

9.

A Signa system with an SR77 gradient subsystem is considered and EchoSpeed Signa.

10. GRAM tuning is a series of procedures that must be performed to restore a gradient system's calibration, or integrate a new gradient amplifier into the Signa system. The process is iterative in nature. 1.DC OFFSETS 2.LCOIL 3.GRAFIDY 4.B0 5.EPI CAL Repeat steps 1-5 until all procedure results are in specification.
11.

Guided Grafidy has replaced the current Grafidy (Eddy Current compensation procedure) on all Signa MR systems.

12.

The main magnetic field is referred to as the B0 (B zero) field.
